Natural Prescription Alternatives Dr. Oz. Thanks for reading our OTC Natural Adderall Alternatives and overall health blog.
In this video below Dr. Oz talks about natural prescription alternatives like Apple Cider Vinegar, Tyrosine, and California Poppy extract.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar is definitely a fascinating natural food and supplement that is available over the counter to help treat various conditions that people suffer from. In this video Dr. Oz and his natural medicine guest discuss the benefits of using Apple Cider Vinegar for heartburn. I myself have used ACV for this purpose and found it to be more effective than products such as Tums that you buy OTC. My most fantastic experience with ACV was actually using it in a way that no one told me about out of pure desperation. For years I had been badly struggling with gingivitis and had actually even gotten a prescription mouth wash from my dentist that did nothing at all to help my issue. Understanding that Apple Cider Vinegar had helped me with heartburn I decided to try using it as an mouthwash after I flossed, and sure enough the one item that has helped me bring my gum disease under control was ACV which is not only available everywhere, but also is very cheap to buy. For best results always check the amount of acetic acid in the product you buy as it is the active ingredient in this food/supplement. The Bragg brand is the type with the highest concentration of Acetic acid, but it can be pricey so buy the brand that fits your budget the best. I have personally found that the cheaper store brand bought ACV products that have a darker color tend to be stronger because of what I assume is a higher amount of acetic acid.
Tyrosine is an amino acid that is the building block of our thyroid hormones triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) which is why it is mentioned in this video as a non-prescription alternative to help boost someone’s metabolism. Boosting our metabolism means that we can receive both increased energy as well as a reduction in body fat. Some nutritional supplement stacks actually use a more highly bioavailable form of this supplement known as Acetyl-l-Tyrosine that is worth checking out as well. We can also get Tyrosine from the consumption of phenylalanine in our diet as it converts into tyrosine at about rate of about 60%. Foods that contain Tyrosine include egg, cheese, fish, and soy. Foods that contain phenylalanine include many types of meat including ham, beef, lamb, and fish. Tyrosine also has the added benefit of having nootropic effects on our brain because it converts to L-Dopa which then converts into the adrenal hormones Epinephrine and Norepinephrine. These hormones control many different functions in our body from energy release to helping us remember emotional memories better. Tyrosine is also considered by some to be a natural Adderall type supplement which is why it is added into products like Addrena.
California Poppy Extract
California Poppy Extract is a very fascinating herb because it was one of the few natural products you can buy OTC as a supplement that actually helps both anxiety and sleep. The actual name for it is Eschscholzia californica and it grows naturally in the United States in California, Oregon, Washington, Washington, Nevada, New Mexico as well as in Mexico. California Poppy has been studied for it’s effects as a benzodiazepine, neuroleptic, antidepressant, antihistaminic and analgesic properties. Very notably it should be said that benzodiazepines include drugs like Valium and Xanax which are very effective at helping us relax and sleep. It may not be quite as effective as these drugs at helping calm and sedate us, but it is quite a bit more potent than remedies that people normally use over the counter like Valerian root extract pills.
